My Story

Who is Vera?

Vera is an Integrative Nutrition Health Coach and Wellness Educator.

What does she do?

She specializes in behavior change. She guides people to make nutrition and lifestyle changes that improve their heath in mind, body, and spirit.

Why did she become a health coach?

Health and wellness have always been a pillar in her home. The last 20 years at work she health professionals how to teach. IIN changed my life and clarified my passion to help others the way it helped me. She does not diagnose or treat disease.

What’s IIN?

It’s the Institute for Integrative Nutrition (IIN) in NYC, the largest nutrition school in the world and licensed by the Ohio State Board of Career Colleges and Schools and affiliated with The State University of New York (SUNY).

How is Vera’s Virtues unique?

It recognizes individual differences in total body health. It demonstrates that lifestyle changes go a long way to help the body heal itself in its new 5-Step Program for Breaking Bad Habits.

It also understands that the family is the basic unit of society, yet children and youth face multiple challenges. Adverse childhood experiences (ACE) lead to the adoption of risky behaviors and social problems. Exposure to aggressive behavior in video games, television, and social media have created a family disconnect such that social and emotional skills are diminished. Technology has resulted in “high tech,” “low touch” individuals. Vera’s Virtues wants to be part of a solution that honors the gifts of character within.

Breaking the cycle

adverse childhood experiences (ACE)

Nurturing the gifts of character within (virtues) prepares children to cope with adversity. Also, once children learn to love themselves, they are able to have healthy family relationships. Strong families make strong communities.

Learn more about ACE

It is important for individuals, families and communities to know how to play well with others, continually ask questions, and use creativity to imagine a situation and make it better. Our resources prepare learners to do that.

Childhood experiences, both positive and negative, have a tremendous impact on future violence victimization and perpetration, and lifelong health and opportunity. As such, early experiences are an important public health issue.

What People are Saying

“Vera is an incredible! She meets you where you are and gently empowers you to self-discovery as she did for me formally in a faculty development program and informally on my own health and self-care journey.”

Charlie Harris, PhD
Professor & Psychologist

“My experience with Coach Vera is amazing. The epitome of a “Coach”, she encourages me to do the physical, mental, and emotional work while she guides. She has such a positive spirit! Her thought-provoking questions allow me to think outside the box and achieve my goals.”

Chanelle Williams,
Volunteer Atlanta Food Bank

“Wow, it’s about time for a book like this! I am amazed so much could be presented so simply. This book uplifts children by naming the virtues that lie within them. The cultural diversity is great. And, I never realized teaching children the alphabet could be so powerful!”

Sherri Napier, Head Start Teacher, Madison, WV
